University of Houston. Student Fees Advisory Committee
Historical Note
The Student Fees Advisory Committee (SFAC) comprises five elected students, four administrators who are Presidential appointees, and one non-voting mentor. SFAC recommends funding allocations for Student Services Fees each fiscal year. Campus units that receive funding from SFAC make presentations to the committee to request permanent funding increases or a one-time allocation of funds. Following these presentations, the committee deliberates and then submits its allocation recommendations and a recommendation for the amount of the Student Services Fee for the following year to the Vice President for Student Affairs and the President. These recommendations influence the budget and represent the student body’s interests in the efficient use of these mandatory fees. There are 36 campus units that receive funding from SFAC, including Athletics, The Cougar, Counseling and Psychological Services, Homecoming, the Student Government Association, and University Career Services.
