This series contains 45 folders housed in 2 boxes. It contains 2 subseries, General Lulac information and LULAC correspondence. This series details the foundation of the League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC), a civil rights group dedicated to combating discrimination against Latin Americans in the United States. It was founded Feb. 17, 1929 in Corpus Christi. Alonso Perales was one of the founding members of LULAC and also served as the organization’s second president.
