Biography

Jeanne Herron Richards was born in 1923 in Aurora, Illinois. She received her MFA from The University of Iowa in 1954, and was a 1954-1955 Fulbright grantee to Paris, France. She served in the United States Naval Reserve from 1943-1946, was a member of the Society of American Graphic Artists, Society of Washington Printmakers, and was listed as a notable artist in Marquis’ "Who's Who in American Art.” Richards worked primarily as a printmaker and painter, and taught Art at several universities, including the University of Nebraska and the State University Iowa. She exhibited nationally, participating in one of her earliest group exhibits, the "First Annual Dallas National Print Exhibition," in 1953. Her art is collected at the National Gallery of Art, Washington D.C., the Eli and Edythe Broad Art Museum in Nebraska, and the Museum of Nebraska Art, among others.
