Maps

 Series

The Maps series includes two large groupings of maps. The first group is a variety of historical maps of Houston and Harris County produced by different agencies and organizations for different purposes at different times. The second is a collection of Flood Insurance Rate Maps (FIRM) produced by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) during the late 1980s and early 1990s.

Processing Information

Maps present a challenging preservation problem because of their shape, size, and fragility. To ensure smaller maps are not hidden by larger maps, BPA’s maps are organized by size on a few rolling carts.
