PJ Hoff Correspondence to JHL III and Photographs, 1970-1977
JHL IV talked about who PJ Hoff was and described his frienship with JHL III and the Lienhard family. JHL IV discussed JHL III’s politics, stating that he became ultra-conservative. He had voted for Roosevelt the first term, but was “horrified” at the "socialistic programs" and went increasingly conservative after that. JHL IV believed that PJ Hoff and JHL III were “on the same wave length.” The two men strongly disliked what they considered to be dishonesty in newspapers as they had seen people make false remarks and claims that were published in the news. Their response was to stage a story where the two men went on a “great python hunt.” They took pictures of themselves in costumes while on this fake expedition.
Eventually, PJ Hoff received an invitation to become a television weatherman in Chicago, and it was during this period that the correspondence in this folder from Hoff was sent to JHL III.
