Inscription on back: "H.M. De Ruyter, Keel layed on September 16, 1933. Serviced on October 3, 1936. It was the ship of the commander of the Combined Striking Force, Rear Admiral Karel Doorman. Torpedoed on Feb. 27, 1942 by cruiser 'Haguro' and sunk on Feb. 28, 1942 near Bawean."
