Capt. Albert H. Rooks, 1942
Caption on front, attached card: *Albert Harold Rooks, was born in Colton, Washington on December 29, 1891. He graduated from the United States Naval Academy and was commissioned Ensign on June 5, 1914. Captain Rooks assumed command of the USS Houston, flagship of the Asiatic Fleet, on August 28, 1941. Six months later, to the day, Captain Rooks was killed in action during Houston's last battle. Posthumously, Captain Albert Harold Rooks, USN was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor, the citation for which reads in part, 'For extraordinary heroism, outstanding courage, gallantry in action and distinguished service in the line of his profession, etc...'
