The University of Houston Office of Development donated these materials to Special Collections in 2003. The video portion of this collection consists of about 350 videotapes, the majority of which are VHS videotapes, supplemented by Betacam videotapes, U-matic videotapes, and DVDs. These videos are largely about interactions between the University of Houston and other organizations. They include advertisements for the university, news coverage of the university, and events where university faculty feature. These videos also include several tapes from a series of lectures from faculty entitled "Discover UH". In storage, these items are organized primarily by format. Video items range in date from 1984 to 2004, years when these formats were standard and common. Some additional videos in the collection may remain unprocessed.
