In the mid-1980s Texas Children’s Hospital (TCH) asked Bentsen to plan and design the large expansion of its facilities in Houston’s Texas Medical Center campus. This expansion consisted of remodeling the original TCH building (the Abercrombie Building) and construction of two new buildings on existing parking lots, called the South Lot and the West Lot. In the architectural drawings series, the West Lot building was called the Critical Care and Surgical Facility, while the South Lot building was known as the Ambulatory Care and Research Facility. The Page Southerland Page (PSP) architecture firm associated with Bentsen on this project in a joint venture and acquired his practice when he retired. This series consists of two oversize boxes, for the years 1985-1991, containing the multi-volume Long Range Plan, one box of planning and programming information, two boxes of project manuals, one box of project files, and one box of construction photographs. PSP retained most files and drawings for this project.
