Schmidt, Willard G. Photo Album of Standard Oil Employee in Egypt, 1947-1949

 File — Box: 3

Description from seller: "This album documents a Standard Oil employee's time drilling in Egypt. It begins with his trek from Tulsa by way of New York City and London where he snapped street scenes, airports and landmarks. The album then jumps to Egypt where we see camels and pyramids, street scenes, a man arrested for drug smuggling, Mount Sinai, Abu Rudeis and more.

Approximately 30 photographs are devoted to the Natroun drilling site, located between Cairo and Alexandria. There are drilling shots, a couple showing derricks and group pictures of the crew. There's also a series of an Arab gathering in the desert..."

Small photograph prints were taped to the album pages, and many have come loose and are housed in archival pages in as near to the original location as can be determined.
