Summary: Ashley Reed was born in Beaumont, TX. She lived there for six years. Living in a home with seven others, Ashley was settled. AR lived in a quiet community. AR is eighteen years of age. AR rode with her friends to Houston, TX to evacuate from Hurricane Rita. AR stayed in Spring, TX. Returning to her home, AR realizes her town was a ghost town. The damage was severe; a tree was placed inside her home. Her family lost everything, her clothes, her bed, her home. Depression has taken affect on AR and her family. Some memories of her and her family were spoken. She remembers moving to her home when she was at the age thirteen. Her innocence was captured. upon her arrival to Houston, TX. She feels like the city is overwhelming. Houston seems fast-pace to her. The people seem very rude to her. AR lives in a neighborhood where a lot of traffic flows. Her family went to Channelview TX. She was separated from her family for almost two weeks. When she reunited with her family it was refreshing for her. She was happy to see her family. The hurricane has brought her closer to her family. She experienced difficulties in her evacuation before and after the storm. She will miss some of her family reunions, and get-togethers. She explains some locations of the locations of her family. She is currently a waitress. Her opinion on Katrina vs. Rita is almost the same. AR‘s family has received help from assistance programs. AR expresses her opinions on some of the actions taken by the government and community. AR stayed at a campground and hotels for the first two weeks after the storm. AR got sick within the two weeks after the storm. It was around the same time reuniting with her family. AR describes the short move in to there new house and what location. She expresses her opinions about her neighborhood, and her new school.
