Kinsbrew, Vernon Lee Jr., 2006
Summary: Vernon Lee Kina brew [VLK] was born in Bogalusa, Louisiana [BL]. He lived in the area in and around his home town off and on for twenty-four years. When hearing about the hurricane Katrina, he was attending a wedding invitation in Destin, Florida. He then vacated Florida and returned home to be with his family in [BL]. He was separated from his mother, due to the fact that she had to work at the retired home in Covington, Louisiana. He stayed with his father, sister, and grandmother in their family home in [BL]. Riding many hurricanes out was a normal routine during the hurricane season for this family. They prepared perishables, supplies and other items they felt were necessary to take on the hurricane and its effects. After the storm had pasted, they managed to explore what damage the storm had created to the area and their home. Both [VLK] and sister‘s car’s were fortunately not damaged but blocked in to the driveway by debris. The community of [BL] pulls the neighbor helping neighbor policy and leaned helping arms to one’s in need. The Kinabrew family and the recently new neighbors across the street were given the opportunity to meet, greet, help, and bond with each other during the clean up process. Shortly there after, [Elk’s mom returned home from her job. She was unable to return home as quickly as possible due to the roads and aftermath of Katrina and then needed to return to her job as soon as possible. [VLK] decided to return with his mother and volunteer at the assisted living community. Returning with his mother was a step that landed him the next few weeks lending his helping hands to the elderly people of the medical facility. The hurricane Rita came and left not creating much damage to the town of Covington or [BL]. [VLK] experienced many downfalls from the passing hurricanes. He then needed to decide what his next step in his career was. He then chose to move to Houston, TX. He has been provided with many helping hands, regarding Houston Housing, and Red Cross assistance. [VLK] is now working for the same company that he was prior to both hurricanes. He doesn’t plan on moving back, and quotes a few statements in regard to his theory.
