Additional Description
Summary
Sidney Harris [SH] is a Katrina survivor from New Orleans, Louisiana [NO]. His interview begins with little details from his early life, and goes on to describe NO. Then, after a few minutes describing the relatively calm situation at his job before Katrina hit, Sidney gives a long description of his experience in the height of the storm: walking down the stairs as the water fills the prison where he and his family have taken shelter, escaping from the rushing water, having to evacuate the building as the water rises, taking refuge on a near by bridge, and watching the devastation from the bridge. He then describes how citizens in Texas helped them after going through what he called a, “bittersweet” experience.
