Summary
Manuel Mukes [MM], age 32, is a Katrina Survivor from New Orleans, Louisiana [NOLA]. His interview begins with some details about his early childhood and upbringing and goes on to describe the New Orleans neighborhood he lived in as a child. MM gives a brief description of the height of the storm. He explains how he did not have any intentions on leaving New Orleans for Hurricane Katrina but his wife had his bags packed and ready to go when he came home from work. MM describes his and his family’s journey from New Orleans to Houston and the events that followed. MM also recalls in detail a significant event in his life: when he was shot.
