Summary
Rodreca Hamilton [RH], age 21, is a Katrina survivor from Avondale, Louisiana. Her interview begins with some details from her early childhood and goes on to describe how she moved around while growing up and ended back in New Orleans where she lived prior to Hurricane Katrina. After describing living with her grandfather, RH moves on to talk about how she evacuated Avondale, Louisiana with her Aunt Rose leaving her grandfather and two uncles behind. The two took refuge at RH’s fiance’s house in Lafayette for a couple of days as they waited for the traffic and the Storm to pass. They then traveled from Lafayette to Houston where RH dropped her Aunt off at her daughter’s house and RH went to stay with her father until she was able to get her own place.
