Summary

Jada Moore [JAM], age 27, is a single parent who lived in Gretna, Louisiana (located on the West Bank) now living in Houston because of Hurricane Katrina. JAM is the mother of a 10-year-old son named Joshua Moore JM and was a cocktail waitress at Boomtown Casino. JAM and her son evacuated to Baton Rouge by family before Katrina struck. She stayed in Baton Rouge two months before returning to New Orleans. Fortunately JAM’s home was not damaged but many relatives homes were completely lost. JAM talks about returning to [NO], devastation of the city, and the difficulties of living in NO after the storm. After living in NO one year after Katrina JAM relocates to Houston to provide a better life for herself and her son.
