Additional Description

Summary

Lashonde Brown [LB], age 20, is a former resident/student from the Xavier University of Louisiana [XU] community, New Orleans, Louisiana [NO] now living in Houston because of Hurricane Katrina [HK]. LB is actually a Chicago native that attended school in NO. Prior to HK, LB was a student at XU and she enjoyed her stay in NO. LB also tells the story of her evacuation and how unsettled she was due to not being with her family. LB’s interview also highlights her life and experiences in Houston afterwards, the attitudes of her professors and peers at the University of Houston, her experience with Hurricane Rita, and how her life has since returned to normalcy.
