Additional Description
Summary
Malcolm Lee (ML) age is 28, is a Hurricane Katrina (storm) survivor. ML is a lifelong native of New Orleans, (NO) Louisiana. ML lived in the eight-ward at 1834 Mandeville Street, and worked at BFI/ located in Baton Rouge (BR), Louisiana. He would drive about an hour to his job and an hour back from his job each day. His family consisted of his father, mother, two brothers and one sister who lived at home prior to the storm. The family didn’t evacuate because they thought this storm would be like all the rest, just rain and a little debris. The Sunday before the storm was like any other day. He got up, ate some food and something to drink. His mother went to the store and purchased some groceries. It was a beautiful day. The day the storm hit, it was breezy and NO was ghost town. We had no power, but we had food to eat. There was wind and rain then the storm passed. We thought we were safe.
