Additional Description
Summary
Tramain Chaney [TC] is a survivor of hurricane Katrina from Slidell, Louisiana, a small town considered to be a suburb of New Orleans. His interview begins with a very detailed description of Slidell, particularly the part of town in which he lived known as Old Town. He goes on to describe his decision to stay for the hurricane and where he and his boyfriend waited out the storm. Then Tramain describes the house with water filling up, almost reaching the second floor and his fear of having to swim because he had almost drowned when he was a young boy. He then describes the people in the neighborhood helping each other with initial debris removal and his decision to leave Slidell and come to Houston to stay with an old friend from his childhood who lives in Houston now. He explains why he likes Houston and describes the neighborhood he now lives in.
