Additional Description
Summary
Dominique Radcliffe [DR] is a survivor of hurricane Katrina from New Orleans East, Louisiana, a suburb of New Orleans on the other side of the Industrial Canal from the Lower 9th Ward. Her interview begins with a very detailed description of her life in New Orleans East. She then goes on to describe what happened to her during and immediately following the hurricane. Her vivid descriptions of getting lost in the woods are very emotional and she has to stop to pull herself together. She then goes on to describe how the people of Jackson, MS helped her in her time of need as well as friends from out of town. Her experiences with FEMA and the Red Cross have been hard and difficult, particularly since arriving in Houston. Her adjustment to Houston has been more difficult than for most people and this is clear throughout the interview.
