Additional Description
Summary
Kimothy Woods is a Katrina evacuee who came to Houston with her mother, stepfather and one of her nieces, leaving behind two sisters who worked as a Police Officer and a Surgical Tech. Her interview started with her living in New Orleans along with her family. She lived alone in Eastern New Orleans. Her family lived in Eastern New Orleans as well. They are a close-knit family and having to leave part of her immediate family behind was very hard on her and her family that evacuated with her. She talks about living in a hotel for one night, and having to get into another hotel because things were worse than they expected in New Orleans; and their first hotel had no more availability. She talked about how her sisters caught up to them, one of whom terminated her job, and how upsetting it was for her mother and her and her niece. Ms. Woods goes on to talk about her transition from New Orleans to Houston and how she was treated in Houston.
