Additional Description

Summary

Nicole Broussard Smothers talked about her life New Orleans. She was pleased with her work environment and the community she and her husband shared in the legal arena, as they are both attorneys. She talked about the comfortable routines they had for their son and the plans they made for their next child.

Nicole was not at all prepared for her life being turned upside down and now they struggle to get by with no assistance from FEMA and help from her mother. She and her husband need to sit for the bar in Texas in order to practice and the financial hardship involved in that just ads to their strains.

Nicole is very family oriented as comes across throughout her story. She’s concerned about how they will make it through, but she has faith that they will. She’s delighted over the birth of their new baby girl and feels good that they are here in Houston because of all the city has to offer them as a family and the children specifically, socially and educationally.

She expressed her concern for her mother because of the death of her father. Her mother is on her own at a very rough time, especially trying to live in New Orleans and make repairs to their home.
