Michels lived much of his life in the Washington, D.C., area and designed several projects for the city. They include New America (1990-1991), a new urban plan for the nation's capital; and the National Sofa (1996), an entry in a National Park Service competition, and WWII Memorial competition. He also created proposals for the Vietnam Veterans Memorial (1981), National Capital Planning Commission (1993), and the National World War II Memorial (1996). Materials are organized by projects.This subseries contains undated materials and those dating from 1980-2001.
