The collection contains 30 recordings from the Sharing Stories Challenge issued by Gloria Steinem. Many of the interviewees shared their personal stories about their roles during the 1977 National Women's Conference and what the conference has meant to them, while younger interviewees who weren't at the 1977 conference were asked how the conference's legacy affected them and still resonates today.

Biographical / Historical

The oral histories were conducted over two days, November 6-7, 2017, as part of the 40th Anniversary reunion conference held at the University of Houston Libraries-Special Collections and recorded by the oral history commons. Thirty interviewees signed up and participated in the "Sharing Stories" Campaign in response to Gloria Steinem's challenge to come forward and share their stories and experiences of the 1977 National Women's Conference.
