The Ken R. Harry Architectural Papers consist of construction documentation produced by architect Ken R. Harry and the Ken R. Harry Associates (KHRA) architectural firm. Materials include architectural drawings, plans, correspondence, notes, and other materials from architectural and design projects ranging from 1975 to 2015. Collection materials document the various stages of the construction process, ranging from planning to completion, and feature meticulous documentation of Harry and his firm’s architectural and design projects. The materials document the built environment in the city of Houston and throughout the country, effectively tracing growth, development, and renovation throughout the late twentieth and early twenty first centuries. The collection is arranged by project, and is comprised of 28 boxes and over 500 tubes of material.

Abstract

This collection consists of the records of Ken R. Harry Associates, including project files and architectural drawings ranging from 1972 to 2015.

Biographical Information

Ken R. Harry is an architect based in Houston, Texas. After receiving his Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture from Louisiana State University, Harry began his architectural career working for the Tennessee Valley Authority and Caudill Rowlett Scott. In 1972, Harry relocated to Houston and founded Ken R. Harry Associates (KHRA), a boutique architectural firm that worked primarily with clients, such as Gerald Hines, Schlumberger, and Mayer Brown, LLP. Harry and KHRA offered specialized services in architecture, design, and consultation. Harry is known for his robust record of repeat clientele and for his meticulous construction documentation. He has received numerous industry awards, including the ASID Corporate award, the Texas Star Award, and more. KHRA was acquired by Abel Design Group in 2015.
