UH History Collection
An assembled collection of materials documenting various stages of UH’s history, including its origins as Houston Junior College in 1927; its expansion into a four-year university in 1934; its progress towards becoming a state-supported university in 1963; its efforts to promote and expand its student body and academic programs; the construction of its campus buildings; the individuals who helped found or attended the university; and various campus organizations and events. Other notable topics covered in this collection include the University's 25th (or Silver), 50th, and 75th anniversary celebrations. Materials include press releases, event programs and invitations, brochures used for advertising and recruitment, memoranda, news clippings, publications, maps, and photographs.
