The Women's Institute was founded in 1951 as non-profit organization offering courses in a variety of disciplines to women and working women in the Houston Community and for those pursuing continuing education. Many of their faculty come from area colleges and universities-University of Houston, Rice University, Houston Community College (HCC), etc.
