The Daya, Inc. Records contain printed materials broadly documenting the organization's outreach to Houston's South Asian community, specifically women and families affected by domestic violence. Materials include select issues of Daya's official newsletter; newspaper articles and advertisements of Daya's activities; brochures and organizational data for prospective members of Daya's Board of Directors; programs and other publicity items for Daya's annual galas and seminars; and awards issued by various leaders and organizations for services to the community.

Biographical / Historical
Daya, Inc. is a non-profit organization founded in 1996 that serves South Asian women, children and men in the Houston area who have been the victims of domestic violence or sexual assault. Daya works to empower survivors of domestic and sexual violence through culturally specific services and by educating the community to end the cycle of abuse. Services include crisis intervention and management, professional counseling, financial assistance, legal advocacy, and housing assistance.
