This collection consists of twelve artists’ books created for the White Glove Salon. Among them are a number featuring dos-à-dos bindings and several examples of calligraphy. Of note is a paper doll of Renu Khator, chancellor of the University of Houston and president of its main campus.

Historical Information

The White Glove Salon was a donor cultivation event developed and hosted by Leigh Owen, a member of the Libraries Dean’s Campaign Committee and Cabinet representing Rare Books Collections, in collaboration with the University of Houston Libraries on April 18, 2018. The event featured rare books from the Libraries’ collection paired with artist-created books that were directly inspired by the rare objects. The artists who made books were Lilibeth André, Cori Austin, Missy Bosch, Lane Devereux, Debbie Dutton, Diane Ferguson, Adrianne O'Donnell, Leigh Owen, Janet Reynolds, Lee Steiner, Wolf Thun and Lynn Williams.

Acquisition Information

Collection materials were donated to Special Collections following the White Glove Salon event in 2018.
