Julie Grob is a native Houstonian who worked from 1989 to 1991 at the Axiom punk and metal music venue, where she was initially hired as the publicist. From late 1990 to 1991, Grob worked as a booking agent, and she, Joe Claytor, and Mark Kamburis co-managed the club. Grob co-planned the Axiom Reunion held at Fitzgerald’s nightclub in 2007. Prior to working at the Axiom, she was the publicist for 812 Productions, an artist and band management company. Grob deejayed at the Rice University radio station KTRU from 1984-1988 and served as their program director for two years and music director for one year. Grob works as a librarian and archivist, is the instruction coordinator at the University of Houston Libraries Special Collections, curates their rare book collections, and has been the curator of their Houston Hip Hop Research Collection since she founded it in 2010.
