Inscription on back: "H.M. Witte de With, Keel layed on May 27, 1927. Serviced on Feb. 20, 1930. This ship escorted on Feb. 27, 1942, the damaged British cruiser HMS Exeter to Surabaia docks. On March 2, 1942 this ship was destroyed by its own crew, after damages by a Japanese air raid on Surabaia Navy docks"
