Scope and Contents The Bayou Preservation Association maintains files on its activities from its beginnings in the 1960s. Materials on the history of Buffalo Bayou date back to the 1920s, so the collection is dated from that period. Collection of 43 geochemical data maps from locations in Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Florida, Kentucky, and Israel between 1944 and 1975, with most maps from the 1940s to 1960s. Within the collection are maps for methane, ethane and heavier hydrocarbons, pentane, soil gas, sand percent, ethane and propane and butane, and total hydrocarbons.

The 35 items in the Winfield Scott Papers document aspects of the life, military service, and political career of General Scott from 1831 to 1866. The items include letters, general orders, legislative ordinance, maps, sheet music, envelopes, several printed engravings, and a printed mezzotint. A letter addressed to Elisa Wyse from Lieutenant John Wyse, with whom General Scott corresponds, also is included.

John C. Walker Texas Counties Collection
