Historical Note

The UH LGBTQ Resource Center provided support and a safe space for LGBTQ people on campus to access resources, ask questions, and connect with other students. Through visibility and education, they sought to create an environment of LGBTQ acceptance and inclusion for the entire campus community. The Center sponsored annual events such as National Coming Out Day. Other services included a lending library, an ambassador/leadership program, a mentoring program, Cougar Ally Training, and discussion groups.

Scope and Contents The UH LGBTQ Resource Center Records includes analog and electronic material from 2008-2023 that document the formation and functions of the Center. The collection consists of annual reports, brochures, and news articles related to events, policies, and programs, including Cougar Ally Training, Rainbow Coogs, Rainbow Friends, Lavender Graduation, and Mentorship.
