Administrative History Note

In June 2010, the GLBT Resource Center was created with Lorraine Schroeder as director, and in 2015, the center officially changed its name to LGBTQ Resource Center. The UH LGBTQ Center made a huge impact on the lives of LGBTQ staff, students, and allies on campus by offering them a safe space to learn, grow, and talk about important issues that affect the LGBTQ community. The LGBTQ Resource Center closed on August 31, 2023.

Historical Note

The UH LGBTQ Resource Center provided support and a safe space for LGBTQ people on campus to access resources, ask questions, and connect with other students. Through visibility and education, they sought to create an environment of LGBTQ acceptance and inclusion for the entire campus community. The Center sponsored annual events such as National Coming Out Day. Other services included a lending library, an ambassador/leadership program, a mentoring program, Cougar Ally Training, and discussion groups.
