Summary
Dwayne Lewis [DL], 17, is a Katrina survivor from Eastern New Orleans. Dwayne had just reunited with his family and was starting his sophomore year at Abramson High School where he had only been living for eight months when the storm hit. Dwayne had to guide his mother and sisters to safety while they floated on an air mattress through the rising flood waters. He also survived the predators and the filthiness of the Superdome, and threats of males being killed and only females and children...

Summary
Shawayne Lewis, 15, is a Katrina survivor from Eastern New Orleans. After surviving the challenge of wading through rising flood water, the horrors of the inhumanity of the Super Dome’s conditions, and the discrimination of unsympathetic, young Houstonians Shawayne sees Katrina and Houston as opportunities to achieve success she never thought about.
