South and East Surveys 1S-1E to 6S-5E

 File — Multiple Containers
From the Sub-Series:

The Edgar Tobin Texas Aerial Surveys Sub-Series contains a set of Aerial Photographs of Central and Southwest Texas produced by the Edgar Tobin Aerial Surveys Company. Used by geologists and oil companies to examine terrain and map pipelines, these 1"=2000'and 1"=4000' scale photographs comprise a piecemeal topographical map of West Central and Southwest Texas. Many of the photographs feature notes and sketches of proposed or existing pipelines.

Centered in Edwards County just over 100 miles southwest of the geographic center of Texas, the area covered by the photographs ranges from Benbrook Lake in the Northeast, Lake Trammell in the Northwest, Sabinal and the Sabinal River in the Southeast, and Del Rio and the Rio Grande in the Southwest. The photographs are arranged according to the photographer's grid pattern, ranging from 1N-1W in the center of the map to 22N-6W at the northwest edge. Some of the photographs are noted with identified dates and geographic locations or landmarks, but many are identified only by their designated grid coordinates.
