Mindiola’s involvement in La Raza Unida Party (LRUP), the contents of this series, shows his role as Harris County Chair of LRUP. LRUP, founded in Texas in 1970, grew into a national Chicana/o third party. Candidate from Texas, Colorado, and California made gubernatorial runs, and candidates throughout the Southwestern states, as well as from Illinois, Wisconsin, and Nebraska also emerged. The party ended in 1979. This series includes correspondences with Harris County candidates, party by-laws, precinct information for Harris County, and press releases.
