Additional Description
Abstract
Cohen Landry is a Katrina evacuee from New Orleans. [CL] is a child of 10 children whose family moved around a lot during his elementary years due to the fact that his father was in the U.S. Army. While high school age his parents settled on the West Bank of New Orleans, Louisiana. CL married his high school sweetheart. They had recently moved to a new home and made several big ticket purchases in starting a new life when hurricane Katrina was tracked to hit the Gulf Coast. CL and his family evacuated New Orleans to Atlanta, Georgia where one of his brothers lives. From there they proceeded to Baton Rouge, Louisiana where his wife’s sister lives. At that point residents of the West Bank were allowed to return to their homes to retrieve property. CL discovered roof damage on his home; therefore, a lot of his home’s contents were damaged. He was able to retrieve clothing from the home. From there, he decided to move his family to a hotel in Lake Charles, Louisiana. He was there when hurricane Rita was tracked to hit the Beaumont/Lake Charles area. CL and family evacuated to Baton Rouge, leaving behind much of what he salvaged from his New Orleans home at the hotel which was destroyed by hurricane Rita. CL proceeded to Houston, Texas where he currently resides and hopes to build a future with his wife and children.
