Additional Description
Summary
Carrie Meyers (CM) is a retired Afro-American woman and the caretaker of a 96 year old father. She is interviewed the weekend of her 65th birthday which was celebrated by her two sons, their families and her newer community the Meadows Place Senior’s Village. Her escape from Katrina occurred after the storm. This required the assistance of civil defense and emergency persons at the time of the well documented initial devastation of New Orleans. CM describes the trauma of exiting with a then 95 year old man with the health problems of that age.
