The personal papers of George Eugene McDavid include correspondence, family history and letters, memos, newspaper industry reports, financial statements of the Houston Post and Chronicle, philanthropic files and correspondence on the Houston Symphony, Red Cross, and University of Houston, scrapbooks, featured newsclippings, photographs, videos on the history and events of the Houston Chronicle and notable Houstonians, newspaper industry publications, awards, UH Football programs and ephemera, posters and speeches.

The collection also contains a large oversized framed painting entitled “The Falcon Project-1995” (45 x 63) depicting the takeover of the Houston Chronicle by the Hearst Corporation using the symbolism of the eagle (Hearst) swooping in on the blind hawk (Chronicle). The collection also contains several commemorative editions of the Houston Chronicle from the mid 1970s that documented a milestone or historical event in the Chronicle’s reporting.
