The James H. Branard, Jr. Port of Houston Collection contains photographs primarily of ships and workers on the Long Reach docks on the Houston Ship Channel, collected by Branard, Jr., who was the former Vice President of Gulf Atlantic Warehouse Co., and was in charge of operations at Gulf Atlantic's Long Reach division. The collection also contains articles, publications, and other ephemera on Long Reach and the Port of Houston.

Biographical / Historical
James H. Branard, Jr. (1906-1999) was the former Vice President of Gulf Atlantic Warehouse Co., a subsidiary of Anderson, Clayton & Co., and was in charge of operations at Gulf Atlantic's Long Reach division. He also served on the Board of Governors at the Port of Houston.
